Advance voting for this year's general election opens today, with polling booths open throughout the region.

From today, advance polling booths will be open for Hawke's Bay voters in the Napier, Tukituki, Ikaroa-Rawhiti and Wairarapa electorates.

The booths, located in Napier, Hastings, Wairoa, Marewa, Havelock North, Flaxmere and Waipukurau, will remain open at certain times in the three weeks leading up to the election on September 20.

The main voting day is September 20, but residents may cast an advance vote for reasons such as work, sickness, infirmity, disability, being away from home or for any other reason. Postal votes may also be cast in certain circumstances.

• For full details on polling booth opening hours, or for more information, visit www.elections.org.nz, or call 0800 36 76 56.
