"I liked the thought of a new school as it meant you became important, instead of being one in a thousand you were one in a hundred."
He had many fond memories and witnessed some drastic changes. The introduction of modern technology was one he remembers well. "It was talk and chalk when I started then suddenly it was websites and YouTube."
He spoke of the early days as some of the best. "We used to do a variety of things, as it didn't matter what you taught." Although Mr Barrett was head of science he could participate in all areas of schooling life. "I coached sport teams and even had to referee netball once, which was amusing."
There has been no fires or major incidents at the school but the closest thing to it that jogged Mr Barrett's memory was a flood. "A huge flood poured down the hill and the whole school had to be evacuated."
Mr Barrett is gearing up for the reunion and can't wait to catch up with fellow staff members.
Principal Greg Fenton said it was a great occasion and would be remembered for years to come.
