Roadworks crews are hoping for the rain to clear across Hawke's Bay so that a re-sealing programme covering stretches of SH2 south and SH5 between Napier and Taupo can be wrapped up.
Road crews are working on sites spread between Paki Paki and Waipukurau where temporary speed restrictions have beenput in place along with stop-go signalling.
While delays are only expected to be minor greater delays up to five minutes could take place between Waipawa and Waipukurau during peak traffic flows and motorists are asked to be patient and stick to the signposted restrictions.
Minor delays because of speed restrictions and traffic control can also be expected at various sites between Te Pohue and Tarawera on the Napier-Taupo highway.
Drivers are also being advised to drive with caution around road-marking vehicles on SH2 north between Bay View and Morere just north of Wairoa.
Contractors are carrying out an annual road marking re-painting programme and some minor delays can be expected.
A seal repair programme at sites between Kereru and Takapau on SH50 is also likely to result in some minor delays with temporary speed restrictions in place along with stop-go signalling.
New Zealand Transport Agency journey manager for Napier Oliver Postings said drivers also need to drive with caution on SH2 between Napier and Hastings around the Napier Rd and Pilcher Rd intersections where major work on the Whakatu Arterial roundabout is under way.
