This afternoon Kiwi singer Dave Dobbyn will be one of the first to experience a new attraction that will be popping up throughout Hawke's Bay this summer.
Project Prima Volta's (PPV) new Voice Box is a mini-performance venue which aims to give people an intimate insight into singing.
One halfof the box will hold a member of PPV or Festival Opera who will sing to any member of the public intrigued enough to step inside.
At the launch this afternoon Mr Dobbyn will be sung to by a lucky competition winner.
Festival Opera Creative Director Anna Pierard said it was great to have someone like Mr Dobbyn accessible to younger aspiring musicians.
PPV, a youth initiative of Festival Opera, helps talented youth overcome barriers and unleash their abilities through the medium of opera, Ms Pierard said.
William Colenso deputy head girl Bobbette Beauchamp joined PPV in August and said it had really helped her to express herself.
"Music is one of the things I want to pursue, and it helps for us all to be involved with one another."
