Delays on Napier-Taupo Rd after truck crashes

A two-truck crash has blocked one lane of the Napier-Taupo Road this afternoon.

Emergency services were called to State Highway Five between Turangakumu Rd and Kowaro Roadway, close to the Summit Tearooms, just after 3.05pm.

A police spokeswoman said one of the trucks was on its side and only small vehicles were able to get past.

According to the New Zealand Transport Agency road users were advised to expect delays and heavy vehicles should follow the direction of emergency services.

Following this, another truck crashed this afternoon along the state highway between McVicar Rd and Waitara Rd just after 3.20pm.

The police spokeswoman said a truck had hit a car carrier blocking the eastbound lane.

"There is a back log of traffic so motorists can expect delays."
