Delays on major Hawke’s Bay highway after offal spill blocks road

A major highway in Hawke’s Bay has been closed after scraps of animal remains spilled from a truck.

Police were called to the blockage on State Highway 2 in Waipawa about 4.30pm.

“No injuries have been reported, however the road will remain closed while clean up is under way.”

The offal spill had blocked the highway between Great North Rd and Argyll Rd, police said.

Motorists are advised to avoid the area and to expect delays.

NZ Transport Agency Waka Kotahi advised caution on the highway.
