Death treated as unexplained

The unexplained death of a 49-year-old Dannevirke woman has been referred to the coroner.

The woman was found dead in her bed at an Empire St address by her partner on Wednesday just after 7am and emergency services were called. Attempts to revive the women by St John Ambulance staff were unsuccessful.

A post-mortem examination was carried out in Wellington yesterday and police were continuing to make enquiries on behalf of the coroner.

The death was being treated as unexplained until further results of the post-mortem are available.

There was no evidence to suggest the woman's death was suspicious, police said.
