After a sellout first night, the Dannevirke Theatre Company's production of A Christmas Carol has been a financial success, producer, Gary Mitchelmore says.
"After our sellout night, the weekend's audiences have been decent, with the theatre 50 per cent booked, which for an opening week isn't bad because there is
always stuff on at this time of the year," he said.
Mr Mitchelmore said the production has broken even and he expects this Friday and Saturday's shows to put the show into profit with good sales for the rest of the season.
"One of the biggest challenges with a show like this has been the expectations put on our story tellers and carollers," he said.
"They have to be word perfect as each performer has just one part of a sentence to deliver. Our cast has been wonderful and they've done it."
