When asked if she wanted to do more interior design in the future, Maia said she would like to because, "you get to design lots of different ideas and just go with it."
Local interior designer Jodie Robertson appeared on the show as the designer for Maia's bedroom.
"The best part was seeing her face when it was done, although she had designed it, seeing it become a reality was really cool."
Maia's prize included up to $3000 to spend in Harvey Norman's furniture and bedding departments, Resene paint, Resene Colour Consultant and painter to the value of $1000, quality carpet and installation from Cavalier Bremworth to the value of $2500, and a fully installed DVS home ventilation system to the value of $3845. A team to come help design and install her new room was also part of the prize.
The show, which screens on Tuesdays at 7.30pm, sees eight children from throughout New Zealand, chosen for their innovation and design skills, turn their dreams into reality.
The competition to appear on the show is still open and closes midnight Sunday August 9, 2015.
