Community broadcasters were recognised for their hard work and promising programmes at this year's Radio Kidnappers Christmas function.

Vyron Russell and Margaret Bryce were awarded best music programme for their weekly MV Golden Kiwis show, which they had been presenting since late 2009.

Best Youth Programme went to the Youth Zone Pirettes, a team from Karamu High School who had been providing an insight into everyday life at high school through their programme for the past three years.

Lynne Trafford's tireless work as a researcher and interviewer was recognised with the Best Community Group Spoken Programme/Presenter award.

Best Community Group music programme went to the Real People at Mosaic who had been presenting the weekly Radio Active show for the past 10 years.
