Christmas trees given for a good cause

Twenty families will receive an early Christmas present this year, thanks to the Salvation Army Hastings' Chari-Tree initiative.
Twenty teams - from local businesses, groups, families or individuals - will compete to decorate the best Christmas tree and their creations will be gifted to families who otherwise would go without.
Teams will use their own decorations and have two days to create a festive masterpiece. The winning tree will be chosen by public vote.
Major David Moody of the Salvation Army Hastings said children were "at the heart" of the initiative.
"The presence of a Christmas tree in the lounge is exciting and makes the Christmas season last that little bit longer," Mr Moody said.
The competition begins on December 13-14, and the decorated trees will be on display at the Salvation Army hall, corner of Warren St and Avenue Rd, Hastings.
