Cheating partner's car rammed in rage

A woman suspected her boyfriend was being unfaithful. So she hopped in her car and drove to the woman's house whom she believed he was seeing.

The woman, 28, became enraged when the pair opened the door and started laughing at her.

She went back to her car and used it to repeatedly ram his high-performance black Holden Commodore, a police summary states.

She hit it so hard it cannoned into the car belonging to the other woman. She kept ramming the car several times, also damaging her own car.

After smashing up these vehicles several times she reversed down the Napier driveway at speed, lost control and drove into a fence, ripping one portion of the panels down and underneath her car, causing more damage to her car.

Police arrived and interviewed all parties before charging the woman, who admitted going to the address and causing the damage.

She caused thousands of dollars worth of damage to three cars in a rage sparked by her boyfriend's affair with another woman.

She had not been drinking and had not consumed any drugs, the summary states.

Appearing in Napier District Court yesterday, she pleaded guilty to two charges of wilful damage.

There was no mention of the likely cost of the damage, including the damage to her own vehicle, and there was no application for reparation.

Judge Geoff Rea ordered her to appear for sentencing within six months if called upon.

An officer said later that police understood the man had "sorted" the situation.

Judge Rea said he was accepting the outcome suggested by defence counsel Philip Jensen, and added: "You seem to be sorting things out."
