The campsite's expanse of grass, river and stone make for a great playground for children who can remain under the watchful eye of parents due to the openness of the area.
The campsite is also home to numerous trees which can provide shade for campers braving the sweltering heat of a Hawke's Bay summer.
The travel time required to get there is also family friendly, taking about one hour on the Napier-Taupo road and then just 8 kilometres down a gravel road.
There is motorhome, caravan and car access to the campsite.
A total of 20 non-powered campsites are up for grabs on a first-come, first-served basis.
Camper need be aware to boil water before they consume it and that fires are not permitted at any time.
