Te Wananga O Tamaki Nui A Rua is promoting White Ribbon in the Dannevirke township.
Organisers said the first event would be held today at 10.30am on the corner of Dannevirke's main street and Ward St.
The event would be a public welcome to those attending, giving a formal addressto open the week of activities and events happening throughout the township and to also acknowledge the different organisations that have helped support the White Ribbon campaign over many years in Dannevirke.
Organisers said they would like people to support the opening by wearing the White Ribbon Symbol, which would be handed out.
The event should last about an hour and if the day was wet the opening would be moved to the Rangitane office on Ward St. Tamai Nicholson was to be the MC.
