One of the startling newcomers to the Marine Parade landscape in Napier is up for an award.

Cosmopolitan House, which was redeveloped from what had been the site of the Cosmopolitan Club by Wallace Development Company Ltd, has been shortlisted as a contender for one of the main prizes in the 2015 Gisborne Hawke's Bay Architectural Awards.

The awards evening, which is staged by the New Zealand Institute of Architects, will take place at the MTG Hawke's Bay on Friday and will feature the best of the eastern region's architectural works.

The Marine Parade/Albion Lane site and part of the original building was totally redeveloped into a uniquely designed four-storey business block which now has Colliers International and Tremains Real Estate among its new occupants.

A spokesperson for Wallace Developments said the company was delighted to hear the building was in the running for an architectural accolade.
