American singer Tony Lindsay has been with Santana for 25 years and will perform in Napier with the Jazz Gala on June 4.
An international rock and jazz singer who has performed in front of some of the world's bigger crowds will star at a Napier venue with seating for just 330 people next month.
Tony Lindsay, a vocalist with Santana for 25 years, will perform in the MTG's Century Theatre on June4 as part of a six-stop Jazz Gala American All Stars tour with the Rodger Fox Big Band.
The tour starts with a concert and workshop in Auckland on June 1 and ends with another concert and workshop at the Wellington Jazz Festival on June 8. The Napier stop is a concert-only event.
Lindsay first sang with rock, blues and jazz guitar legend Carlos Santana's band in 1991, has claimed 11 Grammy Awards, worked on seven Santana albums, also worked with such stars as Aretha Franklin, Steve Winwood and Lou Rawls and was with Santana in the Vector Arena concerts in Auckland in 2011.
Also on the tour is drummer Dave Weckl, who has an international reputation as well and has worked with artists such as Paul Simon, Madonna, George Benson and former Led Zeppelin singer Robert Plant.
Lindsay and Weckl will be joined by Los Angeles saxophonist Adam Schroeder and Russian jazz trumpet and flugelhorn player Alex "Sasha" Sipiagin.
