Sadd chief executive Anna Braidwood is thankful after receiving donations to repair her organisation's wrecked car.
A charity has received a boost after its car was trampled on until the roof and windshield caved in, on the same night as an out-of-control "Facebook party" in Napier.
Students Against Dangerous Driving New Zealand chief executive Anna Braidwood said she was grateful for a flood of donations afterher organisation's car was believed to have "fallen victim" to roving youths from a party at the weekend.
Police closed down the Rutherford Rd party in the Napier suburb of Marewa about 1.30am on Sunday.
Ms Braidwood said she was "gutted" to discover extensive damage to the marked car, which had been parked overnight on the verge outside her residence on Kennedy Rd. It appeared a group of people had trampled it.
But the charity had received more than $550 in a single day after this week starting a Givealittle page to raise money for the car's repairs.
"We are so humbled and grateful, it's definitely a case of kindness prevailing," Ms Braidwood said.
While she initially required $500 for the car's insurance excess, the damage had been so significant she was currently waiting to hear if the vehicle would be written off or not.
"So the saga is still not quite over yet but we've at least had some happy endings."
