A large number of police were called to a fight which broke-out at a worksite in Napier industrial district Pandora today (Tuesday).
At least nine police vehicles went to the scene in Thames St after police were told of disorder among workers about 9.40am, and that one person had beenassaulted.
It was understood the disorder stemmed from an incident involving two workers, and that several others became involved.
An ambulance was also at the scene and police said one person had received minor injuries and was assessed by the ambulance staff at the scene.
Those involved in the initial incident had been removed from the area, and most police staff had left by 10.30am, although the circumstances were still being investigated.
While the number of police and other vehicles disrupted traffic, the road was not closed, and businesses, including the site where the incident happened, continued to operate, many with heavy traffic including large trucks.
Attempts to contact the company late Tuesday for comment were unsuccessful, but it is understood it is a major provider of forklift pallets, and offers work for some people on community work sentences.
A Corrections Service spokesperson said that did not involve workers on release-to-work programmes.
