Five hundred bras of all shapes, sizes and colours will wing their way to Vanuatu.
Local business Suzelle Lingerie & Swimwear has donated the undergarments to help those affected by tropical cyclone Pam, many of whom lost everything and will have to start from scratch.
"It's a significant quantity. Themajority of them are new, some of them have been donated by customers for a future cause, we feel this is definitely worthy," sales and marketing manager Roslynn Young said.
After reading that Gemco Trades and Construction would be sending a shipping container they began packaging the bras, which ranged from high-end lacy numbers to practical supportive options.
"I think non-perishable is often taken to mean the obvious, blankets, food items, torches. This is something women need but might be too embarrassed to ask for."
Suzelle owner Coralie White had a history of helping women, something which extended not only to finding the right lingerie but making women feel good about themselves.
"Absolutely the business has heart, from fitting everyday wear to fitting moulds after a mastectomy, Coralie has heart and we follow her in that," Roslynn Young said. "We want to do our little bit and if it helps someone that's considered a success."
