A young boy aged 11 was among a group of males caught by police, after allegedly burgling a Hastings bowling alley.

Police dog handlers caught up with the four young men on Sunday night.

Senior Sergeant Clint Adamson, of the Eastern District Command Centre, said the boys had allegedly smashed their way into Superstrike Tenpin Bowling on Omahu Rd.

It is alleged they broke into the building abound 10.15pm. A security guard who arrived at scene was threatened with an iron bar.

Police dogs were used to locate two of the alleged offenders, while the other two were caught in a neighbouring street.
