Police say there is a report of a bomb threat at Tamatea High School.
Police are currently responding to a number of incidents where schools have received concerning calls.
Initial investigations have identified that a number of schools around New Zealand have received threats.
In a Facebook post just before 3pm, Tamatea Intermediate School said police were finishing their check at the High School.
"They will let us know when all clear is given."
The school also posted: "Please be assured that all our students are safe in class. We will keep you updated."
Police staff are in attendance at each school which has received threats and are working with the leadership teams to determine the individual response at each school.
The priority for police and the schools was to ensure the safety of students and staff.
Police said they have well established procedures for dealing with such incidents and are currently working through those procedures with each of the schools.
Brookfield School on Miller Road Tauranga was evacuated this afternoon after receiving a bomb threat.
All staff and children have been accounted for and have been removed to a nearby reserve.
