A body has been found at a Hawke’s Bay worksite under unexplained circumstances.

Police said they were called to the scene on Taihape Rd, Omahu, at about 9.10am after a body was found on the property.

A police spokesperson said the circumstances of how the person ended up there and how they died was unclear.

Police are treating the death as unexplained.

“Police will now work to identify the person and to establish the circumstances surrounding their death,” a police spokesperson said.

“A scene examination will be carried out, as well as a post-mortem examination. Cordons are currently in place at the address.”
