Closed for Good but open to suggestions... the team from BNZ Waipukurau are about to launch into some deck-staining at the Pakeke Centre.
Closed for Good is an annual event for BNZ staff members nationwide, as each branch closes for a day while staff volunteer on a community project.
Lastmonth BNZ Waipukurau staff chose to donate their time to the Pakeke Centre in Waipukurau, a day centre for the elderly and socially isolated citizens in CHB.
The centre was chosen from several applicants and Pakeke clients were delighted to see eight BNZ staff turn up with their sleeves rolled up and paintbrushes and garden tools at the ready. The volunteers proceeded to restain the centre's large deck and trellis fencing, plant up garden tubs and even valet the centre's three vehicles.
They even came back last week to put a second coat of stain on the deck, ready for summer use.
