Dianne Roadley, of Wairoa, has been awarded a Beef + Lamb NZ Rural Advancement Scholarship, recognising her as a future leader in the sheep and beef industry.

Wairoa’s Dianne Roadley is one of six recipients of the 2025 Rural Advancement Scholarship provided by Beef + Lamb New Zealand.

The scholarship is designed to strengthen leadership within the sheep and beef sector.

“An established community leader and regional councillor, Dianne’s leadership was forged through years of community work and responding to adverse weather events,” B+LNZ said in a statement.

As part of the Kellogg Rural Leadership Programme, Roadley will investigate how the industry can better communicate with farmers and bridge the urban-rural divide.

Each of the scholarship winners receive a $4000 contribution towards a place on any Rural Leaders programme.

B+LNZ general manager of farming excellence Dan Brier said this would “support them to make a lasting impact on New Zealand’s rural communities and farms”.

“Investing in people is investing in the future of our sector. These scholarships empower farmers to step into leadership roles, tackle critical challenges and drive positive change for New Zealand’s sheep and beef industry.”

The other five recipients come from Rawhitiroa, Glen Murray, Oamaru, Gore and Dannevirke.
