Hawke's Bay sisters Megan Dobson and Kelly du Toit have become the second team to be eliminated from the My Kitchen Rules New Zealand competition last night.

Last night's episode saw group two contestants travel to Hawke's Bay for Kelly and Megan's Instant Restaurant - the last one in the round.

The pair applied for the show after being encouraged by their UK based sister in law, and made it past 5000 other entrants to be part of the fast paced reality series.

They got a call at the end of March and began filming a short while later, but it wasn't easy with Kelly, 32, juggling an 8-month-old baby and a 7-year-old son as well as work and a sideline fashion project.

However, the journey came to an end for them last night. Their competitors, Josh and Aaron, were in last place before this episode and were hoping for a culinary disaster from the sisters. Their wish was granted.

The local team pulled off an ambitious crayfish entre which scored plaudits from the judges, but it was the main and dessert that sealed their fate.

Kelly and Megan said that they were 'pretty devastated' about being eliminated, as they had high standards and were disappointed that they had not met them.

The elimination was not the only blow to be delivered; the episode also saw the arrival of the Gatecrashers three new teams given a shot at Kitchen HQ glory.

My Kitchen Rules was filmed throughout New Zealand, but the sisters were in the dark as to what the show would look like once it was edited, or who the overall winners will be.

"There were moments where we were relaxed, and moments which were incredibly intense and fast paced - it was fun," Megan, 28, said in an interview with Hawke's Bay Today last month.

Being sisters was a positive for the duo, who worked well together, though their personal cooking styles were varied.

My Kitchen Rules airs three times a week from 7.30pm on Sunday, Tuesday and Wednesday, TV ONE
