Local artists have put their unique flavour on works being auctioned for charity during Hawke's Bay's 10-day Food and Wine Classic.
For the second year, nationally acclaimed photographer Brian Culy and his talented artist wife Leanne have collaborated on a series of fork-inspired pieces to raise money
for Cranford Hospice.
"We know Brian and Leanne's work is highly sought after, so we're thrilled they've been so generous yet again by creating bespoke pieces for us to commemorate F.A.W.C! and raise money for a charity close to the hearts of people in Hawke's Bay," Hawke's Bay Tourism general manager Annie Dundas said.
Mrs Culy was delighted to be involved again.
"A lot of our work is inspired by nature and we enjoy food photography and styling - so this has been fun to work on," she said.
The couple used rock salt and vintage New Zealand Railway forks as inspiration for three works. Two will go under the hammer at a Summer Series Launch party at Craggy Range on Friday, October 31, while a third will be put up for tender through F.A.W.C! sponsor NZ Sotheby's International Realty.
Anyone wanting to submit a tender must call its Havelock North office before noon, Monday, November 10.
"With a significant percentage of our buyers coming from out of region, we are constantly tempting people with a taste of Hawke's Bay so being involved with F.A.W.C! is a great fit for us," NZ Sotheby's International Realty managing director Fraser Holland said.
"Many of our homes have had Leanne and Brian Culy art adorning their walls so we are really pleased to be able to offer this special opportunity to own a limited-edition piece from them. As an extra special touch we have used the design from one of the artworks to create a F.A.W.C! Summer Series 2014 tea-towel which we will gift to all attendees of the Launch Party."
Art, food and wine will come together once more to raise money for Cranford Hospice at the Hawke's Bay Winegrowers Charity Wine Auction on November 8, where a commissioned artwork by Freeman White is set to be sold.
The auction merges with F.A.W.C! festivities this year at Hawke's Bay Racing Centre. Tickets are $20.
