A racing stock car was damaged in a garage fire in Napier on Friday tonight.
Two appliances from Napier Volunteer Fire Brigade were called to a fire at Nuffield Ave, Marewa, at about 5.10pm.
Napier station officer Warrick Le Quesne said by the time fire crews arrived some gas cylinders
inside the garage had been removed by occupants.
While people should never go into a fire having the gas cylinders removed made it safer for the firefighters.
"We don't want people to go into fires."
