For the third Christmas, Wairoa's Bloom n' Loco will be open for business to help shoppers find the perfect gifts to go under the tree.

The Marine Parade store opened in 2015, and sells flowers, gifts and homewares.

"We can definitely tell people have begun to shop for Christmas," owner Kimberley Bell said.

"We have been trying to encourage our lovely local ladies to shop early for Christmas so they have time to relax and enjoy the time coming up to Christmas a bit more."

Encouraging early shoppers meant a lot of "goodies" had been brought in earlier to the shop, which had already been "blinged out" with lights and decorations.

For shoppers, Ms Bell said they tried to provide a classy range of Christmas decorations, and a sophisticated alternative to the traditional Christmas tree.

"This year we are a bit Scandi, very LED and seed light, a bit of white wood - and definitely no tinsel."

Holiday shoppers tended to visit the central Wairoa store in the weekends before Christmas. They also received a lot of visitors throughout summer, and into the New Year.

"We enjoy meeting new visitors to the store who tell us that a friend or relative has told them they must stop at Wairoa and visit our store."

Their reach is set to expand, selling gifts at their online store. Flowers can already be bought online, with sales tending to increase at this time of year.

However, there will be no Boxing Day sale, because "we are all big on family and the doors at Bloom will be firmly shut".

Ms Bell opened the Marine Parade store in September 2015, initially created as a local place to buy fresh and beautiful flowers.

"It quickly evolved into a retail space with beautiful homewares. The relaxing white interior was deliberate, so we could provide a clean palette which the flowers could stand out."
