Black Barn Bistro in Havelock North recently played host to Wellington's Logan Brown restaurant at the inaugural 'Flying Chefs' dinner organised by the Brain Injury Association (BIA) Hawke's Bay.
The dinner had sold out within weeks of being announced and 90 "very lucky" guests enjoyed canapes before being served a four course dinner prepared by executive chef, Shaun Clouston and Steve Logan.
'Flying Chefs' is the second fundraising brand for BIA, after "Lifting the Blues" which launched last March with the successful Ben Waters concert.
The idea is that top New Zealand restaurants will be invited to Black Barn to raise funds and BIA are already planning next year's event, in talks with two award winning Auckland restaurants.
"It had been a privilege to be involved with such a worthwhile charity and Black Barn had been awesome both in terms of the staff and venue," Steve Logan says.
The evening raised more than $11,000 which was hailed as a fantastic result by chairperson, Brett Morris.
"It was great to see the guests having such an enjoyable time and at the same time helping to raise much needed funds for us to be able to continue providing the service we do".
