Cordons are still in place following an AOS callout in Napier earlier this afternoon.

Cordons are still in place following an AOS callout in Napier earlier this afternoon.

The armed offenders squad was called to a Hurst Ave property after reports a firearm had been seen today.

A police spokeswoman said the squad were called to Maraenui just after 4pm.

Cordons were put in place around the suburb while police searched the property.

Four people were spoken to and a 31 year-old man was arrested on an existing but unrelated warrant for arrest for breaching his bail conditions.

The area was now clear and cordons had been removed.
