The Hawke's Bay Magpies rugby team suffered their third consecutive loss in the Mitre 10 Cup Premiership when beaten 48-20 by the Counties-Manukau Steelers at Napier's McLean Park tonight.

It was an error ridden display from the hosts which brought back memories of their last stint in the Premiership in 2012 when they were relegated. With two competition points from a possible 15 there is virtually no hope of their semifinal goal being ticked off.

The Steelers fed off Magpies mistakes and calmly converted them into points.
