Police are urging motorists to take extra care around Woodville and Pahiatua as low-lying fog is causing visibility issues on the roads.

Police said drivers should drive to the conditions and ensure their headlights, not parklights, are on.

They are also asked to be very aware of other road users who may not be easily seen in the fog, such as cyclists, pedestrians and slower traffic, including trucks and vehicles that may be towing trailers, boats or caravans over the holiday weekend.
