A man has admitted stealing six donation boxes from six different places during January this year but denies taking another four during that same period.

Quentin Robert Terure, 27, who appeared by audio visual link yesterday at Napier District Court also admitted stealing petrol from six different stations throughout Hawke's Bay and one petrol station in Wanganui.

That offending occurred between November 16 last year and January 8 this year.

In total, the value of petrol stolen was $300 and, according to police charge sheets, each donation box had cash valued at $150 in it.

Guilty pleas were also entered to three more charges which included unlawfully entering Hot Chick without authority and with the intent to commit an imprisonable offence, breaching release conditions after being out of jail for four months and stealing tobacco and papers from another person which were valued $42.50.

As the screen came on Terure waved to the court before his defence counsel, James Ranger, handed to Judge Geoff Rea an amended charge list where 10 of the burglary charges had been withdrawn and replaced with 10 theft charges.

Terure faces seven more charges which he has pleaded not guilty to.

It is alleged that on December 21 last year he stole a donation box from Havelock North Auto Court, then in January allegedly stole donation boxes from Boardwalk Beach Restaurant and Bar, Store Bistro and the RSA.

Police also allege that on January 9, Terure entered The Filter Room without authority and with the intent to commit an imprisonable offence, that he escaped police custody the next day and resisted police on that same day.

Judge Geoff Rea remanded Terure in custody for a case review hearing on April 11 for those charges.
