About 200 quilts will make for another stunning display at this year's fifth Wine Country Quilts Exhibition at Pukeora Estate, Waipukurau.
Guest exhibitor Anne Yeo from Napier will be showing her prize-winning quilts as well as some new work she has just finished for the exhibition.
A mini-exhibition of diverse works from the Central Hawke's Bay needleworkers will be on display and the Central Hawke's Bay Cook Island community will have 20 of their unique and colourful tivaevae on show.
Two challenge competitions are being run: "What goes around comes around" where the entrant must use at least one item that has had a previous use, and a "child's comfort quilt challenge" where a panel has been provided - these quilts will become the property of Wine Country Quilts and be given to children in need.
The exhibition organisers thanked Janome for its continued sponsorship of the event. Janome will be on-site over the weekend offering their expertise and knowledge about their products.
They have donated machines as prizes for Best of Show and a raffle. They have also supplied machines for students to make charity quilts.
These machines will be available for use throughout the weekend for anyone to contribute to the charity quilts, and latest-model machines will also be available to try, as well as buy at reasonable prices.
The popular "Bits 'n Pieces" free demonstrations are open to all - a timetable can be found on the event website.
In addition, there will be 15 merchants on-site stocking a diverse array of textile/sewing related goods such as threads, paints, tools, fabrics and knitwear.
Local craftwork will be for sale and a cafewill cater for coffee and food requirements.
Pukeora Estate is just south of Waipukurau and provides wonderful views of the area. The opening hours are from 10am-4pm daily, entry is $5.
