Police have been kept busy in Hawke's Bay overnight.

Police have been kept busy in Hawke's Bay overnight.

A series of violent crimes in the district kept Hastings police "particularly busy" last night.

Sergeant Gary McFadyen said a 29-year-old man was arrested after an assault which took place on Manuka St, Mahora.

The man was facing charges of assault, wilful damage and trespass, and was due to appear in Hastings District Court this morning, Mr McFadyen said.

A female of unknown age was also arrested for an alleged assault with a weapon after an incident in Raureka.

Mr McFadyen would not reveal the type of weapon the woman had allegedly used. She would appear in court in the next few days.

A slew of domestic incidents had also kept police occupied.

"We've had a very busy evening. It's been a particularly busy late shift."
