A man accused of running down a Hawke's Bay police officer in his car has been remanded in custody until next year.
Robbie Richards, 28, of Napier was charged in relation to the hit-and-run last week.
He appeared in the Napier District Court yesterday on a charge of wounding with intent to cause grievous bodily harm.
Richards is accused be being the driver of the car that hit a police officer at a at Clive on December 18.
The officer received injuries to his leg, face and arms and was discharged from Hawke's Bay Hospital on Saturday.
Richards was arrested on Saturday night at a Hastings home.
There are no other people being sought in relation to the incident, but police were keen to speak to any witnesses who saw what happened at the drink-driving checkpoint on Farndon Rd.
Richards was remanded in custody until his next appearance at the Hastings District Court on January 20, 2015 after police opposed a bail application.
