Just weeks after fighting for his life on Akitio Beach near Dannevirke, Lincoln Eastwood is now home with his family.
On Saturday, June 19, 8-year-old Lincoln was dragged behind a bolting horse along Akitio Beach and was left bruised, battered and not breathing, needing the kiss of life from his father, Rodney.
After an emergency dash in the Westpac Rescue helicopter to Wellington Hospital and recovery in the intensive care unit, Lincoln's family are thrilled to finally have him home again.
"It is just wonderful to have Lincoln home with us and have the family back together again," his mother Joanne told Dannevirke News.
"Looking at Lincoln now it's hard to believe what actually happened to him. The only tell-tale signs are the cast on his arm and the headaches he's suffering. You can't even tell his skull and jaw are fractured as it's hidden by his hair."
Lincoln, described by his family, as a "typical country kid," says "it's awesome being back home."
"I get to sleep in my own bed. I did like how the hospital ones could go up and down though."
