Organisers of the annual Pask Winery Great Late Long Lunch are keeping a sumptuous three-course meal under wraps - but wine matches have been revealed.

The menu was designed by DISH Catering to showcase fresh, Hawke's Bay produce while a beverage selection aimed to compliment flavours. "We have got a rose, which is a lighter, more fruity style - ideal for this time of year," operations manager and winemaker Russell Wiggins said.

"We have our decorated Cabernet Merlot Malbec blend, a heavier red and the third is a barrel-fermented Sauvignon Blanc, so it's a lovely fruit weight with a barrel influence. We try to find wines which go with the food, but are also great on their own."

Last year the event, held on Napier's Marine Parade, shifted from a traditional Sunday lunch to Saturday evening soiree in the hopes of attracting guests from out of town.

"By all reports, everyone was happier with it, for me the night time is more appealing - people can entertain themselves by dancing or taking in the view."

Guests will dine among chandeliers and lanterns at a table that spans almost 250 metres, before dancing under the stars to Confetti Quartet and Vague As Brothers.

Napier Inner City Marketing manager Meg Rodel said they could have space for up to to 800 guests and people could still secure a spot. "It's much the same format as last year, it includes a three course - last time we had canapes on the lawn, this year we will have bread and dips, almost like another course. There are still a few places left."

Now in its 14th year, the Great Late Long Lunch will be held on Saturday from 5.30pm. Tickets are $110 per person, available from Napier Inner City Marketing on 06) 834 3917.
