Police are appealing for information after an aggravated robbery at Windsor Avenue Store in Hastings last night where cigarettes and cash were taken.

Police are investigating an aggravated robbery at a Hastings dairy last night.

Two women entered the Windsor Park Store on the corner of Windsor Avenue and Louie Street demanding cigarettes and cash at about 7:25pm.

When the sole shop assistant told them he was not going to open the till, one of the women pulled out a length of chain and smashed the till monitor.

While this was happening the second woman ran behind the counter and grabbed a quantity of cigarettes and tobacco.

Both then ran out of the store and got into a vehicle which had been parked outside the store facing the wrong way.

The vehicle was possibly blue.
