Lontalius will play October gigs in Dunedin, Wellington and Auckland with support from, er, October.

The LA-based New Zealand songwriter, aka Eddie Johnston, says he's excited to be playing here again.

"Mostly because I've never had a chance to give a real performance as Lontalius. The album release shows back in 2016 felt more like gallery openings - and if anyone saw me previously, we were probably just sitting on the floor of an empty bar stage playing Casios.

"This time around I'll be playing with a new band and plenty of new songs. So much of the music i've written over the past few years has lead to me thinking about playing songs on stage. It's not something I'd thought about before, but the feeling I had in my bedroom of just wanting to put a song on Soundcloud is pretty similar to just wanting to get out and perform it.

Dates are: Dunedin, October 5; Wellington, October 6; Auckland October 12. Tickets from http://lontalius.com.

Yukon Era say their new song Knife Skies is about letting the small pressures of life get under your skin.

It's the third single from their album due early next year.

Described once as "old-fashioned rock and roll cut from the same cloth as Polvo and Fugazi – embedded with a hint of classic Kiwi jangle", the Auckland quartet will hit the road with Soda Boyz from September 27, with gigs in Hamilton, Auckland, Wellington, Palmerston North, Christchurch, Dunedin and Queenstown.

Reb Fountain says her new video for The Arrangement is about awakening to your strength when you've felt disempowered, and finding power in your self expression.

She's teamed up with director Lola Fountain-Best to share a a positive representation of women, their bodies and artistic expression.

"It's ok for women to be strong, vulnerable, sensual, safe … and naked … our bodies are worth valuing and sharing. We wanted to (re)frame the female body beyond the male gaze; we've offered a very feminine point of view of what it means to embrace oneself."

The video stars Eve Armstrong-Coop and features Tashy H'ng.

Fountain is off on tour with The Chills this week and will record a new album next month.

Indie pop group Daffodils will perform their debut headline show at Auckland's Tuning Fork on September 27.

It will be an all ages event joined by electro-pop artist BENE.

Daffodils started performing together in 2016, and have opened for acts like Pale Waves and Soaked Oats.

Fans of 80s new-wave synth pop will want to be there.

Daffodils' fourth single A Leo Underwater is out on September 21 and an EP is in the works for 2019.
