The Hawke's Bay Poets Picnic and deVineart sculpture are just two of the events Ngatarawa Winery has supported over the years and Creative Hastings is hosting a musical celebration to say thank you.
The winery has been the organisation's wine sponsor for seven years for events such as the Artists' Challenge. This Friday from 8pm, the Hastings Community Arts Centre is the venue for the Farmgate Session and will rock to the sounds of Irish music, American song-storytelling and 30s swing.
Performers include Ian Turbitt, Scotty Smith, Tony Parker, Richard Nicholson and Helena Tripplett.
The winery supplies the grape prunings for the annual deVineart sculpture event. "We think the partnership is active and benefits the arts in our community," said Creative Hastings community arts adviser Keith Thorsen.
Winemaker Peter Gough will also be speaking about Farmgate wines produced by Ngatarawa, hence the name of the event.
The winery has also staged its own exhibitions in its stables building, including handcrafted boxes and drawers by actor Grant Tilly, and an historical exhibition featuring wine bottles with labels dating back to the winery's beginnings.
