Good company is awaiting

The Four's Company performance choir is in the spotlight at Napier's Trinity church on Saturday.

The choir has a broad repertoire, singing four-part arrangements of pop and rock songs, gospel and spirituals, Broadway, classical and jazz standards.

Saturday's concert will feature a range of songs, including 80s hits such as Eye of the Tiger to popular songs by Elton John and Enya, a Les Miserables medley, and a John Rutter composition.

Guest instrumentalists will be talented young cellists Pien Kerckhoffs and Olivia Wilding, and Antonio Della Barca on piano.

The Trinity Church was the site of the inaugural Jazz Vespers concerts this past summer and autumn, and the choir's performance is one of a planned series for winter.

Four's Company was formed in 2010, beginning as a mainly youth-based performance group, but rapidly growing to include adults of all ages. The core group of about 25 singers and actors aged from 12 to 60 plus meets every Tuesday night in Hastings for practices.

Its members have performed with the Hawke's Bay Orchestra in Christmas and "Movie madness" concerts at the Hawke's Bay Opera House and in Sweeney Todd. Four's Company performance choir, Trinity Methodist Church, Clive Square East, Napier, 2pm Saturday, entry $10 at the door, children free.
