The Hawke's Bay Readers and Writers festival being held in June widens its reach this year with events planned in Hastings, Havelock North and Napier.
The festival, on June 15-16, will also stage a schools' event on Friday, June 14.
Poet Tusiata Avia would be present, as would local poet Marty Smith for a discussion led by Jose Aparicio about the close connections between music and poetry. Jose directs the Napier Civic Choir and is the conductor of the Hawke's Bay orchestra. He's Spanish and is an international tenor and flautist. He conducted for Cosi Fan Tutte. His wife, Anna Pierard, and his sister-in-law Madeleine Pierard were the two female stars.
Guest authors had also been announced for the festival - see hbreadersandwriters.co.nz for more information.
