Sarah and Martin.

The second week of the school Holidays is well under way and many parents can be heard muttering "thank goodness for that!"

While it's nice (in most cases) to be able to spend a bit more time with the kids and embark on some fun adventures and activities, it can also be quite a stressful and full on time. In our house, we welcomed some visitors from the South for the first week.

My mum, sister and her two children came to stay and although they arrived on a rather miserable grey Hawke's Bay day, the rest of the week was stunning and we made the most of it.

Mini golf, Arataki Honey, fish and chips on the beach and Haumoana Zoo were just a few of the activities we did to keep the kids entertained and we had a blast.

For my youngest niece Millie, it was her first visit to our beautiful region and she's already begging to come back. Our kitten however was quite keen to see the back of her.

Little Lucy is quite an active kitten and enjoyed the constant attention and playing ... to a point.

We found the poor kitten locked in the dogs cage on several occasions and then spotted her seeking refuge on the roof of the house (somewhere she's never been before and it turns out, is unable to get herself down from) and realised that perhaps Lucy needed some alone time.

As did the teenager.

Unhappy that his room had been taken over by two girls and their mum, he spent most of the week grumbling about needing his own space, something we of course "wouldn't understand!"

It was lovely to have a full house but it's also nice to have the whole house pretty much to myself this week; I have to share with the animals but I haven't spotted the kitten on the roof yet so I think things are going well. If you're looking for something to keep the kids occupied for the last few days of the holidays, get them to check out our website where we're taking entries for our School Holiday Anthem Music Video.

We're looking for short videos of Hawke's Bay kids to include in our music video and have a brand new GoPro up for grabs!
