American Ultra is a great, easy watch filled with action, intrigue and traditional good guys versus bad guys scenario.

It centres on a small-town stoner and general nice guy Mike Howell (Jesse Eisenberg), who spends his time minding the quiet supermarket, or creating cartoons.

However, Mike was originally trained
by the CIA to be the ultimate hitman. He's about to propose to his girlfriend Phoebe (Kristen Stewart) when the CIA decide to kill him.

Mike's original handler, responsible for wiping his memory and creating his underwhelming life, visits and activates his unique skills and all hell breaks loose.

A very surprised Mike must use his newly activated skill set to save himself and Phoebe and he becomes a very polite killing machine. Imagine death by spoon, noodle or a tin of tomatoes.

Eisenberg does a delightful job of the wide-eyed and confused Mike, who simultaneously (and very creatively) kills any agent the CIA throws at him.

Any macabre snippets are quickly counter balanced with comedy or sweetness. You'd be struggling to take this movie too seriously.

Eisenberg and Stewart make a great pairing and make this movie shine.

Great movie to watch with mates or the better half.
