Six60 in concert in Tauranga on Thursday night.

SIX60 with Nico & Vinz - The New Waves World Tour
At Tauranga's Wharepai Domain, 6pm, 11 January

Reviewed by Charlie Childs

As someone who has a goal of having a career involving music, it was a privilege to watch iconic Kiwi band Six60 perform at their biggest ever headlining concert in Tauranga.

Wharepai Domain provided the perfect outside venue with a full capacity crowd, the energy and excitement was in abundance.

The stunning weather helped to create the successful atmosphere.

The New Waves World tour has toured throughout Europe in 2017 and is finishing off in Six60's home country during January.

Kings (winner of last year's Vodafone NZ music awards 'breakthrough artist of the year' ) started the evening off followed by international Norwegian duo 'Nico & Vinz' as the main support act for Six60.

The duo's chart topping hits 'In your arms' and 'Am I Wrong' got the Tauranga crowd jumping around and warmed up for the main act.

Both bands have similar beliefs in how music affects people and that was shown in their performances, connecting with the crowd and fans more than happy to respond.

Six60 provided wonderful entertainment both through their music and humour.

The audience sang along to classic Kiwi tunes Don't Forget Your Roots and White Lines, with current chart hit Don't Give it Up getting everyone's hands in the air

Well done Tauranga showing that we can host and create a wonderful atmosphere, perfect weather and of course spectacular music as well as the bigger NZ regions.
