Long before international singing show The Voice, Hawke's Bay had its own solution to finding fresh talent.
Youth Talent Quest VOICE has been running for 20 years, offering an outlet for a variety of local acts.
This year it will be held at Bay City Outreach Centre in Hastings onSaturday. Held at Hawke's Bay Opera House for the past four years, VOICE was forced to find a new home for 2014. But that hasn't changed the message from organisers.
If you think you could be the next Lorde, your band is as edgy as Broods or you're hoping to follow in the footsteps of Reece Darby, register online now.
"It is like eight weeks of the X Factor in one huge exhausting day; unlike the television shows where they spin out the talent over some 8 to 12 weeks, we see 130 acts throughout the day, with the difficulty of narrowing it down to 40 acts that the audience get to see in the evening event," Atomic Youth Trust director and event founder Mark Wilson said.
"It is a day packed with hugely talented young people impressing the judges.
"The awesome part about this event is that the stars of the show are also sitting right next to you in the audience - (it) is about finding the star in each one of us"
Auditions will start from 9am on Saturday, with times for each act assigned prior to the event. All recalled performers will be expected to return for an evening concert. Entry forms are $5, from Atomic's Facebook page.
