Kiwiana Party Cakes
Fun cakes for fun occasions
by Rob Burns
HarperCollins, $24.99
This is a real cutie. Fabulous looking easy to make party cakes that children, and some adults, will just love.
Author Rob Burns is a pastry chef and owns a shop in Auckland.
He and photographer Charlie Smith have put together a collection of mouth-watering pictures and simple recipes that will make cooks look like they have spend hours in the kitchen to achieve.
There are 33 designs including Little Brown Kiwi, Jaffa Giant, Happy Feet and Feel the Buzz. All extremely Kiwi.
Rob has combined cakes, lollies, icing and a bit of Kiwi ingenuity to come up with some real beauties .
He includes basic cake mixes at the back of the book along with a picture parade of decorations.
It was hard to pick a favourite but after much um-ing and ah-ing I have to go with the Feel the Buzz, which of course is a buzy bee. .
This would make a wonderful gift to any family with children under 10.
