The annual Better Home and Living Show is back in the Bay this week and features over 120 exhibitors from across the North Island.

The show focuses on the latest eco-trends and sustainable innovations over four categories: home, garden, transport, mind and body, and is set to take place Friday through Sunday at the Pettigrew Green Arena.

Organisers are preparing themselves for crowds of up to 8000 over the three day event which organiser Daniel Joll said will feature the launch of several new products and services in the Hawke's Bay area.

This year about 70 per cent of the exhibitors are from Hawke's Bay, including husband and wife team Raelle and Terry Connolly of Wright Sprout.

They took over the previously established business in 2011 and have been part of the Better Home and Living Show since 2012.

Wright Sprout is under the umbrella of Rawlistic Limited, which specialises in promoting the health benefits of raw food.

Mrs Connolly, who has a background in naturopathy and homeopathy, chose to take over Wright Sprout after she found herself constantly preaching the benefits of raw foods and of sprouts in particular to her clients.

"They're the most nutritious food on the planet, they provide lots of different vitamins and minerals.

"I wanted a business that would make me a living but doing something I am passionate about. I always had sprouts on my window sill, I always ate them so this was perfect."

She said the business had been used as a platform for launching into more raw foods including muesli, seeded products, dried sprouts and scrogan. The products are currently being sold at organic shops but Mr Connolly said the shows were a good opportunity to get the business out there.

Mrs Connolly said there isn't a lot of knowledge out there when it comes to sprouts and their benefits but at shows like the Hawke's Bay Home and Living their products and their teaching is really unique.

"We've done gluten free shows and healthy living shows in the past but our food is so different it needs to have somewhere to stand out.

"I would like to help them understand the benefits of raw food, especially sprouts."

They plan to run workshops over the course of the weekend to educate people on how to grow their own sprouts and how to use them. The Hawke's Bay Better Home and Living show, which is proudly sponsored by the Hawke's Bay Today, begins this Friday the 24th and runs from 10am to 5pm each day.

Tickets are $6 for adults, $3 for seniors and under 16s free.
