Sarah and Martin.

It all started with an innocent on air chat with our promo team after the Christmas holidays, when we discovered Hena's break had been a little lonely.

Filled with the prospect of many future mornings alone in her bed with just last night's pizza to keep her company, Hena agreed to let us find her a date for Valentine's Day. Many eligible bachelors registered for a chance to win a date with Hena the Hottie and three made the final cut. Tim, Jay and Myron each enjoyed a date with Hena this past week. Tim challenged Hena to a game of mini golf at Par 2 Mini Golf, Jay and Hena loaded their shotguns and enjoyed a bit of clay target shooting with Guns and Tackle Hunting and Fishing, and Hena and Myron had a lovely dinner at Mexi Mama in Ahuriri.

Hena was faced with a tough decision; only one of the three lovely lads would be chosen for a second date: swimming with the sharks at the National Aquarium of New Zealand on Valentine's Day.

She internalised the complicated situation in her head and, after reviewing the highlights of all her dates, settled on Dr Jay.

When asked what he was looking for in a girl, Jay responded "boobs" and when Hena was asked what she liked most about the doctor she replied "his face", so they sounded like a match made in Heaven.

Even though Jay had already planned a trip to Wellington for the weekend, he pledged to make the return trip early Sunday so he would be back in the Bay in time for their shark dive on Sunday afternoon.

But then disaster struck. While riding his beloved motorbike down to Wellington, Jay was involved in an accident. He required medical attention and was unable to walk, thankfully not permanently!

That obviously meant the planned date couldn't go ahead as Jay was in hospital and it's probably not the best idea to get in a tank with sharks while bleeding.

We wish Jay a speedy recovery and hopefully once he is better the date can go ahead, just at a slightly later time.

Don't worry about Hena, though. She didn't spend Valentine's Day at home with only pizza for company.

She had KFC instead.
